In June 2010 Cregagh C.C. embarked on their most ambitious tour to date, by playing in two different countries in two days.

On 12th June we played a fledgling Slovakian eleven, at Hajske Stadium on a Flix pitch, running out winners by 8 wickets, in a twenty/twenty game, whilst appreciating the fine spirit and hospitality of Vladimir Chudacik and his Slovakian compatriots. It was great to see the group of young Slovakians so passionate about Cricket!

The next day we travelled the 80 kilometres that separate the closest two European capitals to play against a strong Vienna C.C. side, at their picturesque Seebarn ground.

Cregagh batted first and scored 175 for 4 against a lively bowling attack, in their 30 overs thanks to largely a battling 54 not out from opener Ian Kerr, and a magnificent quickfire 74 not out from David McCormick.

Cregagh eventually won the match by 50 runs, with bowling honours shared by the father/son duo of Phil and Mark Thompson who took 5 of the Austrian wickets to fall. Special mention must go to the Austrian man of the match, skipper Mark Surridge, who took 4 for 29, and followed it with a fine 43 with the bat.

Another wonderful and rewarding experience, as Cregagh continue to support cricket throughout Europe, with plans already at an advanced stage to further this process in Croatia next year.
