Ulster Bank Schools Cup Final - Top Form Limavady Take Schools Cup
Robin Walsh Limavady Grammar School may have waited almost 40 years to win another Schools Cup but they took the Ulster Bank Trophy in fine style with a convincing 75 run win over Campbell College. Campbell did nothing to help their cause by conceding no fewer than 36 wides in a Limavady total of 166 for 7 but, that aside, the North West side batted, bowled and fielded more tellingly throughout the 35-over final at Muckamore. Campbell invited Limavady to take first knock and the 36 wides were to prove second highest scorer. Opener Ross Allen registered the only half century of the game with six boundaries in his 52 and along with skipper Callum McGregor (34) compiled a third wicket partnership of 84. Adam Pollard was the pick of the Campbell bowlers with his 4-20 going for less than three runs an over. Campbell found themselves two down for only five runs and never recovered. A fourth wicket partnership of 32 between Paddy Beverland (34) and Paddy Park (20) offered a slight glimmer of hope but in the end Campbell capitulated to 91 all out. Details: |
