The Northern Knights squad to take on the North West Warriors on the 15th July in the RSA Inter-Provincial Cup at North Down Cricket Club has been announced.
The 12 man squad selected for the RSA Interprovincial Cup match is as follows:
- Andrew White (Captain)
- Chris Dougherty
- Philip Eaglestone
- Peter Eakin
- Nigel Jones
- Eugene Moleon
- Lee Nelson
- James Shannon
- David Simpson
- Jonny Terrett
- Greg Thompson
- Ben Wylie
Ben Wylie from Instonians CC makes his debut for the Northern Knights. Ben is a slow left arm bowler and left hand batsman. He plays for his university in England and has had good results with both bat and ball. He is an Ireland under 19 and Ireland A player and it is hoped Ben will contribute to the Knights in all forms.
This is the first match between the two teams in the RSA Inter-Provincial Cup after the match in May was abandoned because of the weather and the Knights, sponsored by Horwood Neill Holmes, will be looking to get a win under their belts following their loss to Leinster Lightning at the start of the competition.
Talking about the upcoming challenge of facing the Warriors, Head Coach, Eugene Moleon said: “The players have had quite a bit of cricket now so there can be no excuses. We all realise the challenge ahead and have to start producing results on the field. I am backing the group of players we have, and we have to have self-belief in our ability and enjoy the game, atmosphere and challengers. We have to control what we can control and give it our all.”
The Northern Cricket Union would encourage fans from across the Union to come along and support the Knights on Monday.
Admission is free at North Down CC on the 15th July.
