NCU Annual General Meeting 2013

The 2013 Northern Cricket Union AGM was be held on Wednesday 16th October 2013 in the Shaw's Bridge Sports Association Clubhouse.

Billy Boyd from Lurgan CC was elected President with Peter McMorran from Civil Service North elected as Vice President. Replacing Brian Walsh as Chairman is Muckamore CC stalwart Andy Clement with Alan Waite from Waringstown CC elected as Vice Chairman.

A motion to change the Directorate structure, reducing from 4 to 3 was passed unanimously. This allowed the election of the Honorary Officers, Assistant Directors and club nominees to the new structures.

Also on the agenda was the presentation of the McMorran Award for Voluntary Service to Cricket.
The winner this year was Holywood CC's Billy McCormick and the trophy was presented to him by NCU President Billy Boyd.

As well as the motion to change the Directorate structures there were 9 other NCU and club motions:

SERIAL 1 - PASSED
This increases schools’ affiliation fees from £50 to £75 for grammar/secondary schools and from £35 to £40 for preparatory/primary schools.

SERIAL 2 - PASSED
This replaces the existing four Directorates with three and make consequential amendments to other Rules.

SERIAL 3 - PASSED
This removes the obsolete requirement for clubs to provide multiple paper copies of registration lists.

SERIAL 4 - PASSED
This rectifies a gap in the information available to the Registrations Committee by extending the requirement to submit a Supplementary Information (formerly Registration) Form to any player who did not play NCU cricket during the previous season and who has, during the previous three years, played regular 1st XI cricket elsewhere or played representative cricket at Under 19 or higher level.

SERIAL 5 - PASSED
This provides a more complete definition of a player entitled to be treated as Irish.  Up-to-date details of the relevant ICC eligibility regulations will be provided in the Registration Guidance sent to clubs each year.

SERIAL 6 - PASSED
This introduces the use of the Duckworth/Lewis method in all rounds of the Junior Cup, thereby removing the requirement for the continuation of weather-affected matches.

SERIAL 7 - PASSED
This increases the maximum length of innings in the semi-finals and final of the Minor (Lindsay) and Minor Qualifying Cup competitions by five overs.

SERIAL 8 - PASSED
This reduces annual promotion and relegation between the top two sections of the Junior League from two teams to one.

SERIAL 9 - FAILED
This would have reduced the maximum innings length in Section 2 of the Senior League from 50 overs to 40 overs.

SERIAL 10 - PASSED
This puts in place arrangements for the shortening of weather-delayed Match 2 fixtures in Section 3 of the Senior League and Junior League Sections 2 and below, with the Duckworth/Lewis method being used in Section 3 of the Senior League.
