Developing Schools Cricket League

Winners 2012: Not awarded (insufficient completed matches)

Honorary Competition Secretary: Colin Donaghey (M) 077 2039 8883 (e) cdonaghey886@c2kni.net

The League was created a number of years ago to give pupils the chance to play U15 and U13 cricket matches against other schools of a similar level. Many of the pupils who take part have never played cricket before and therefore we try to encourage participation and fun through competitive matches played in a friendly spirit.

This year we would like to encourage more schools to take part and to split the schools into two local sections with the winner of each section playing off in a final. To do this we would welcome teams from other schools who may want to start up cricket in their school or those who play at a similar level. Dalriada School have asked to be involved this year along with the teams that have taken part in the past.

The proposed league sections are:

Section A Section B
Oakgrove College Fivemiletown College
St Columb’s College Portora Royal School
St Patrick’s & St Brigid’s College Omagh Academy
Dalriada School

Under 15 Final
Not played - Trophy shared by Oakgrove College and Omagh High School

Under 13 Final
Portora Royal School beat Oakgrove College by ten wickets

There will be an Under 15 and Under 13 competition.
Under 15 teams consist of Yr 10 & 11 (3rd & 4th Yr) pupils only and Under 13 teams of Yr 8 & 9 (1st & 2nd Yr) pupils only.
Matches played have a maximum of 20 overs and no bowler may bowl more than one-quarter of the number of overs agreed at the start of the match.
To encourage the bowlers, wides do not have to be bowled again but do count as two runs.

Any other school that would like to participate should contact the Honorary Competition Secretary as soon as possible.
