It’s perhaps an indication of an increasing awareness of clubs of the need to invest in the coaching of their own young players that this course has attracted such a level of interest.

No fewer than 23 prospective coaches from 11 different clubs have signed up for the first NCU course of the winter.

'Welcome to Coaching’ is aimed at those wishing to take their first step on the coaching pathway and is being held at the University of Ulster’s Sports’ Campus in Jordanstown.

Tutors for the course are Michael Hingston, Eugene Moleon and Scott Irvine.
