NCU Coaches Association 2015

Scott Irvine
Regional Performance Analyst & Coach Education Co-Ordinator (North)
Cricket Ireland

After a very successful year in 2014, the NCU Coaches Association (NCUCA) will once again be working in conjunction with the Cricket Ireland Coaches Association (CICA) to meet the needs and increase the standard of coaches within the Union, by providing them with specific and relevant support. The NCUCA is continuing to grow and 2015 is expected to be a huge year for the Coaches Association, with some great opportunities for all members being provided throughout the year.

Click here to see some of the benefits for NCUCA Members in 2015: http://www.northerncricketunion.org/NCUCA/2015_Membership_Benefits.shtml.

Throughout 2014, members have been able to avail of benefits such as a quarterly newsletter, liability insurance and coaching resources through the ECB and ICC Europe. Members can expect even greater benefits moving into 2015 and the CICA have started a coaching relationship with O’Neills who will be providing bespoke Coach Education Clothing through their website: http://www.oneills.com/shop-by-team/cricket/cricket-ireland-coaches.html.

Stephen Moreton, Cricket Ireland’s Coach Development Officer said; “It has been great to see the numbers of coaches join up and avail of the benefits. The feedback we have received is that the communication is improving, which is really important to understand the needs of club coaches, in particular. We have also listened to Provincial Unions around their needs for Coach Development, and have bespoke support in place in the NCU, NWCU and Leinster. As with anything new though, there is room for improvement, so in 2015, we hope to increase the offering for members - the first National Conference (10/11 April) will be held in DCU, which is really exciting, we are delivering more workshops with National Players and Coaches, and we would also like to support Munster to develop a solution that works for them - the biggest learning for me, is that each Union is unique and therefore our approach also needs to be.”

Membership of the CICA automatically gives you membership of the NCUCA and will help you access coaching courses, professional development seminars and various other initiative aimed at improving coaching and encouraging continued learning. Most importantly, the NCUCA are run by our members, meaning we as a Union can focus on what is important in our area.
