Active Awards for Sport Programme is open for applications

SportNI

The latest round of the Active Awards for Sport Programme has now opened.

As before, whilst applications will be assessed on their ability to deliver against the priorities identified below, coach education/CPD is an eligible activity and therefore may be of interest to the NCU's clubs. However, those working on the programme internally have reinforced that applications should not focus solely on coach education but rather view it as a contributory/enabling factor to an overall project.

Sport Northern Ireland's Active Awards for Sport programme seeks to prioritise the development of grass roots sport and maximise positive community sport legacies.

  • Increase participation in sport and physical recreation in sport especially among underrepresented groups:
    • Women and girls
    • People with a disability
    • People from a minority ethnic group and
    • Older people
  • In particular Sport Northern Ireland welcomes applications that seek to encourage, support or enable improved community relations especially in interface areas.
  • Deliver projects based in and benefitting areas of greatest need. (Sport Northern Ireland has defined areas of greatest need as Neighbourhood Renewal Areas or the 25% most deprived Super Output Areas using the Northern Ireland Multiple Deprivation Measure 2010 ).

Sport Northern Ireland will also be facilitating a number of 'funding clinics' at various locations throughout Northern Ireland to give groups the opportunity to drop in and have a one to one chat about the Active Awards for Sport Programme. All are available from 11.00am-6.00pm
