Into the Karoo and to the Aquila Private Game Reserve -
Day 9 report from the NCU Development tour to South Africa
Ian Johnston
A day off for players and coaches so Ian Johnston reports on a trip into the Karoo and to the Aquila Private Game Reserve
"A two hour drive north of Stellenbosch this morning took us into the Karoo and to the Aquila Private Game Reserve. The boys had an hour around and in the pool before a buffet lunch that confirmed what had long been suspected, that all the vultures here are not flying overhead! Then it was all aboard the open-sided 4-wheel drive trucks for a 2 hour Game Drive."
"Spectacular close up views of lion, buffalo, rhino, elephant and giraffe were on offer and the reward for the best 'selfie' with any of the animals was to be included in tonight's photogallery. Lots of selfies were entered in the competition but not many included the compulsory animal!"
Tomorrow's matches are against District North Cricket at Durbanville and promise to be a stern test for the boys, if local knowledge is to be believed.
Win or lose there will be of piece of history created as tomorrow will be the first time an NCU side has played a floodlit match.
