Jonty Rhodes is a close friend of Gavin Rogers, the North Down Coach and Northern Knights Assistant Coach.  Jonty was widely accepted as the world's best fielder and is the current fielding coach of the Mumbai Indians.  He is now acknowledged as one of the world's foremost fielding coaches.

Because of his friendship with Gavin, Jonty recently took time out of his busy schedule as a commentator at the ICC T20 Qualifiers in Malahide, to put the Northern Knights and current North Down 1st XI through their paces.

Jonty played in Northern Ireland for South Africa and also represented Ireland as an overseas professional and was keen to return. His eagerness and down to earth delivery of the fielding session was enjoyed by everyone and appreciated by all.   

As Northern Knights go into a busy and very important August with back to back IP50 games with Leinster and a 3 day Championship game against the North West Warriors, the timing of his visit and assistance to the Knights Coaching Staff was massively appreciated.

As a small thank you, Jonty was presented with a perfect pint of Guinness at the end of the session by Raymond Moreland in the North Down Clubhouse.
