Access NI application process now online

Nigel Jones
Regional Development Manager - NCU
Cricket Ireland

The Access NI application process is now available online. Access NI is the criminal history disclosure service for Northern Ireland which provides different levels of information about individuals. It is the expectation from both Cricket Ireland and the Northern Cricket Union that an Access NI 'Enhanced Access NI Disclosure with Barred List check' - with the appropriate level of clearance verified by Cricket Ireland - is held by individuals who work or volunteer in a role that provides services to, or has close and regular supervision of, children and/or vulnerable adults.

Cricket Ireland and the Northern Cricket Union recommends that the following would all have an 'Enhanced Access NI Disclosure with Barred List check' with the appropriate level of clearance verified by Cricket Ireland:

  • All coaches involved with youth sides and/or vulnerable adults
  • All volunteers involved with youth sides and/or vulnerable adults
  • All drivers who regularly transport young people and/or vulnerable adults
  • All umpires who regularly officiate in cricket involving young people and/or vulnerable adults
  • All scorers who regularly officiate in cricket involving young people and/or vulnerable adults

This list above purely gives examples and is not exhaustive. Cricket Ireland and the Northern Cricket Union recommends that if there is any doubt about a role, Enhanced Disclosure with Barred List Check should be applied for.
