The Union has extended its warmest congratulations to its Past President Roy Harrison who was awarded an MBE in the New Year's Honours List for voluntary service to cricket in Northern Ireland.

The award recognises Roy's dedication to cricket over a lifetime serving the NCU, Cricket Ireland and his beloved Waringstown. Roy was also President of the former Irish Cricket Union in 2006.

A life long member of the Waringstown club, Roy played in 15 NCU Challenge Cup finals (being on the winning team on 14 occasions) and played in league winning teams on 13 times. Roy also gained 3 caps for Ireland.

In recognition of his commitment to the Waringstown club for over 70 years the pavilion at The Lawn was named the Roy Harrison Pavilion in 2009.

2015 will not be forgotten by Roy as it also saw Waringstown win the Ulster Bank Premier League and the Irish Senior Cup.
