A timely "Lucky 7" 2016 pre-season test

Paddy O'Hara

A little test of knowledge for all umpires, captains and, hopefully, a lot of players too.

I have heard that – allegedly – NIACUS Chairman Jonathan Kennedy has offered a 'Caribbean cruise' as a prize for the first all correct answer to :-
Paddy O'Hara at patricklohara@aol.com

This may not be true, but it is certainly worth a 'punt', just in case. Every umpire is expected to enter, as are all 1st XI captains and players.

If a player wins, he may be immune to being given out LBW in his 1st 5 matches.
Entries must be received by Friday 22nd April 2016.

The visiting captain tells you that they have no scorer for the match.

  3. Match :- Premier league.
An U17 fast bowler opens the bowling, bowling the 1st over. He bowls a spell of 7 overs and is taken off.

  5. Match :- Premier league.

  6. Match :- Senior league Section 2.
Side A makes 120 all out. Side B are 73 for 1 after 17 overs when rain stops play – far ahead of the Par score.
If play cannot resume, what is the result?

  7. Match :- Senior league Section 1. 1.00pm start.
1.55 pm. Rain stops play after 12 overs
    3.00 pm. Play resumes.
    1. How many overs per side is the match now?
    2. How many overs still to bowl in the innings?
    3. What is the new latest finish time?

4.40 pm. Rain stops play for a 2nd time at the end of the 35th over.
5.20 pm. Play resumes with Tea having been taken.
    1. How many overs per side is the match now?
    2. How many overs still to bowl in the innings?
    3. What is the new latest finish time?

The 1st innings ends at 5.49pm (190 for 8 including 12 time Penalty runs).
