The Union has given consideration to the continuation arrangements for the Arthur J. Gallagher Challenge Cup 2nd round match between Muckamore and Carrickfergus which was halted on Saturday following the sudden illness of Gordon Browne of Carrickfergus.

Everyone in the cricket world is delighted that Gordon continues to make good progress and trusts that he will make a full recovery.

The Union reiterates its thanks to both teams and the umpires for the manner in which they acted on Saturday following the onset of Gordon's illness.

Both teams in consultation with the Union indicated that it was their preference to continue with the match rather than to commence a new game.

With that decision from the two clubs in mind the Union's Emergency Committee has decided that the game should resume on Friday 24 June 2016 at 6.00pm. This is the earliest possible date for a continuation with the Northern Knights playing on Tuesday to Thursday.

If a result is not reached (including a result by DLS method) on Friday evening a new game will commence on the reserve date ie Sunday 26 June.

The Laws of Cricket will apply in respect of substitutes for players not available from the original date.
