Rain Ruins Final Day Of Championship Clash

Cricket Ireland

Persistent drizzle at Comber meant no play was possible on the third and final day of the Hanley Energy InterProvincial Championship clash at Comber. Umpires Martin Block and David Bradley called off proceedings shortly before 4pm.

The Knights get 14 points which takes them to the top of the table, while the Warriors 10 points sees them remain in third place. Defending champions Leinster Lightning face the Warriors in the final match of the series at Malahide starting on August 23rd.

Before then the Warriors host the Knights in a 50-over contest at Eglinton on Sunday (10:45am).

There was action in the Under 11 Inter-Provincial Series at Balbriggan where Sam Topping's unbeaten 108 helped the NCU to a 38-run win victory against hosts Leinster to claim the title.

Ireland Under 15's were also in action in Cork, when they lost a thrilling contest against Scotland by just six runs.

Darryl Sinclair scored 104 as Scotland posted 277 for 7. In reply Neil Rock (64), Marcus Poskitt (62) and Jack Carson (55) scored half centuries but they were just unable to overhaul the Scots.

The teams meet again at The Mardyke tomorrow, while also on Thursday Ireland Under 17s continue their series against Worcestershire.
