NCU Under 15's and 17's to Tour South Africa in 2018
Richard White NCU PRO The Northern Cricket Union has confirmed that it will repeat its 2015 tour and take two teams (Under 15 and Under 17) to South Africa from Tuesday 21th March to Thursday 5th April, 2018. The 2015 tour proved an important catalyst for improved performances at youth level within the union, and twenty-eight of the touring squad of thirty have subsequently played First Eleven cricket for their club sides. Of that class of 2015 James Metcalfe has played for The Emerging Knights, and notably, Morgan Topping and John Matchett made their Northern Knights debuts in fixtures against Leinster Lightning in the past week. The tour itinerary is currently in the planning stage, however it is intended that the two teams will each play six matches. The squad will again attend the Gary Kirsten Academy and have the added bonus of at least one day at the South Africa versus Australia test match at Newlands, Cape Town. Both teams will be selected immediately after the return of the Northern Cricket Union Under 14's tour to Taunton, England, at the end of July 2017. |
