NCU Under 11 Squad in Taunton Opening Game Thriller
Richard White NCU PRO The Northern Cricket Union (NCU) Under 11 squad (sponsored by PwC) are currently undertaking a tour to Taunton (King's College), England, to compete in the Under 11 Cricket Festival. In the opening fixture on Sunday 23rd of July the NCU side won an exciting game by one wicket against California Cricket Academy (USA), with only one over to spare. California Cricket Academy scored 132 for 6 in their 20 overs with Angus Carson 2 for 6, Lorcan Donnelly 2 for 26, Daniel Henry 1 for 21 and Ross Minford 1 for 25 claiming the wickets. In response Ryan Hunter held the NCU innings together with 32 from 33 balls. After a mini collapse, the lower middle order made a fantastic recovery with contributions from John Speers 21 off 15 balls, Lorcan Donnelly 16 off 10 balls, George Palmer 15 off 10 balls, and Adam Leckey 15 not out off 10 balls, before Yuv Pahuja saw the team to victory with 11 runs from 5 balls including two valuable boundary strikes to ease the mounting pressure.
