Belfast Under 14 squad named
Roger Bell The Northern Knights Under 14 squad that will represent Belfast in this year's Triangular Cricket Tournament between Belfast, Edinburgh and Glasgow, to be held at Prestwick CC in Ayrshire on Monday 7th and Tuesday 8th August, has been named. The 2017 squad, which will be captained by Matthew Humphreys of Instonians, is as follows:
The tournament was organized for the first time in 2012 to fill the void left when the popular Lord's Taverners' Inner Cities Under 14 Competition at Arundel was discontinued. New coach, NCU CDO Callum Atkinson was himself a member of the Belfast team that won the qualifying matches v Glasgow and Edinburgh, and went to Arundel in 2007. The Belfast team won the Triangular tournament in 2012 and 2013, the 2014 competition was washed out, while Edinburgh won it in 2015, and are also the current holders. Despite having a number of Under 13 players unavailable for selection due to a Cricket Ireland summer camp being held at the same time, the Belfast squad will be hoping to bring the Charlie Beverland Memorial Cup back home this year. |
