IUCA Indoor Intervarsity
Callum Atkinson We are on the brink of the Irish Universities Indoor Intervarsity competition which takes place this weekend. The IUCA Indoors began in 2006 and this year is the 12th year of the competition. Last year saw the hosts Galway lift the trophy as they were convincing winners. Ulster University are again hosting the competition this year at their Jordanstown campus. Ulster University Development Officer, Callum Atkinson has said "We are very much looking forward to hosting the IUCA Intervarsity Indoors on the 26th, 27th and 28th of January at Ulster University Jordanstown. Ulster University continues to grow their partnership with Cricket Ireland and we are once again excited to host the indoor competition in our state of the art 3G. The IUCA and Ulster University staff have pulled together to organise the competition. We are also delighted to announce that we have MG2 coming on board this year to sponsor the Indoors. MG2 will be in attendance with their cricket equipment throughout the weekend. Having MG2 on board raises the profile of what is already a progressive and improving competition which allows our top student cricketers in Ireland to challenge themselves against other universities."
Irish Universities Cricket Association Team Manager, Herbie McClelland has said "I am looking forward to see the different universities and colleges participating in this competition. It being the 12th year, it has gone from strength to strength, year in, year out, and I would like to thank Ulster University and Callum Atkinson for working with the IUCA in hosting the tournament. I would also like to remind clubs that we will be playing Scottish Universities and Cambridge University in June, so the IUCA will be looking for players to represent us." Irish Universities Cricket Association Media Manager, Peter Searson has reminded universities and Colleges that they can follow the tournament on the Irish Universities Facebook and Twitter pages and will be using hashtag #IUCA18 to promote all Irish Universities Cricket events within the year. |
