Andy McCrea Reports

Today, while the Senior squad trained under Table Mountain at Western Province Cricket Club, the Junior team travelled to the very hospitable and friendly St Augustine's Cricket Club.

Batting first on an excellent wicket the Junior team racked up 273 in 44.3 overs.

Archie Johnston showed his experience with a well crafted 76 off 82 balls. He was backed up by James Rose with a run a ball 26, Matthew Humphreys with 24 and then an excellent lower order partnership between Ethan Hanna (17) and Michael Waite (22).

In the second innings it was an excellent opening bowler partnership between Michael Waite and James Lambert that really put the pressure on and after 10 overs St Augustine's were 24 for 3.

Spinner Matthew Humphreys picked up 2 wickets for 29 runs while Carson McCullough, Rory Ellerby and Ethan Hanna all got a wicket each.

St Augustine's finished 89 all out in a very commendable bowling performance from the NCU boys.

After the match, St Augustine's officials presented Basil D'Olivera match shirt mementos to Archie Johnston for the top batting performance with 73 and Michael Waite for the top bowling performance with 4 wickets for 15 runs.

Basil D'Olivera had played for the club in his youth and the club are rightly very proud of his achievements on and off the field.
