The NCU has announced their PwC sponsored Under 15 and Under 17 squads and details of the Summer Programme for 2018. NCU Under 15 Squad
The Inter Provincial series takes on a new format this season with six matches (three Twenty 20 and three 50 over fixtures) against Leinster, North West and Southern teams. The series commences with a 50 over game against the North West at Wallace Park, Lisburn Cricket Club on Sunday 10th June (noon start), followed by a week long tournament based in the Leinster region from Monday 26th to Friday 29th June 2018. Commenting on the squad, Lead Coach, Uel Graham said, 'The players have worked extremely hard through the winter/spring programme, and are getting a lot of cricket across schools, junior and senior club games, which further enhances their skills and development. The new itinerary, with games across Twenty 20 and 50 over format, in such a condensed period of time, will support the further development of the players'. NCU Under 17 Squad The Inter Provincial series takes on the same format as the Under 15 series (detailed above). The series begins with a 50 over fixture against the North West, at Ardmore Cricket Club, on Sunday 3rd June (noon start), followed by a week long tournament based in NCU region from Monday 2nd to Friday 6th July 2018. Squad to play the North West Under 17's, at Ardmore CC - Sunday 3rd June.
Nathan Doak, James Hunter, Sam McLarnon, and Oliver Metcalfe are unavailable for this game. The squad for the remaining games will be selected and notified after this game. Lead coach, Nigel Jones, stated, 'I'm delighted to see a change in the format to this year's U17 Inter Provincial series and believe this will provide far greater competition for all involved - to have a 6 match series is a fantastic step forward for our Under 17 regional player pathway. The NCU U17 squad selected for this Sunday's fixture against the North West, has been hit by player unavailability, however I am confident that the squad selected will embrace the challenge and it will provide further opportunity for potential fringe players to impress ahead of Tournament selection. The squad has worked hard over the winter and spring period and I am sure for those selected that they will be keen to showcase their skills - I look forward to supporting them this coming Sunday'. |
