Northern Knights defeat Munster Reds in Cork
The Northern Knights secured a first victory of the season as they defeated Munster Reds by 39 runs, in Cork. Batting first the Knights scored 195 for 5 wickets, with Gary Wilson (80) and Greg Thompson (50 not out) the main contributors. Jeremy Benton's took three wickets for 18 runs in an impressive spell of bowling, that saw him take the early wickets of James Shannon and James McCollum, leaving the Knights precariously positioned on 12 for 2. After the dismissal of Shane Getkate the 84 run partnership by Wilson and Thompson rescued the Knights and set up a match winning total. Peter Eakin and James Shannon took two wickets each as the Munster Reds finished their allotted overs on 156 for 6. Stephen Doheny (62 not out) and Max Sorensen (48) top scored for the home side.
