NCU Robinson Services Leagues - Weekend League News (16th/17th June)

Waringstown maintained their lead at the top of the Robinson Services Premier League with a 5 wicket win over North Down. Bangor, Holywood and Lisburn all won to remain tied on points at the top of Section 2. In Section 2 Cliftonville Academy maintained their unbeaten start to the season with a comfortable 7 wicket win at Donaghadee.

Robinson Services Premier League
CSNI registered their first Robinson Services Premier League win of the season, with a 5 wicket victory over Carrickfergus. Ben Adair took four wickets as the home side posted a total of 258 for 9 wickets. There were half centuries from Ian Parkhill (51) and Neil Hornbuckle (61). Andre Malan continued his fine form with 107 and aided by Marc Ellison (98) as CSNI passed their revised target of 261 with the loss of 6 wickets.

CIYMS recorded a 7 wicket win at The Mall, as they bowled Armagh out for 100, with Nigel Jones taking four wickets.

Instonians were missing key players in Andrew White and James Shannon but recorded a 5 wicket victory against Muckamore. Faisal Iqbal scored 79 for the hosts in an all out total of 178. Nikolai Smith led Instonians to victory with 82 runs.

Waringstown remain on top of the Premier League table after defeating North Down by 5 wickets, in a game reduced to 25 overs. Alistair Shields (83) and Ryan Haire (59) set a total of 207. James Hall with 75, Adam Dennison (49), and Lee Nelson (27 not out), ensured The Villagers took the four points, with only four balls to spare. Ruhan Pretorious once again contributed an all-round performance for North Down as he took three wickets to add to his 41 not out earlier in the day.

Armagh lost to CIYMS by 7 wickets
Carrickfergus lost to CSNI by 4 wickets (DLS)
Muckamore lost to Instonians by 5 wickets
Waringstown beat North Down by 5 wickets

Robinson Services Section 1
It is a three way tie at the top of Section 1 as Bangor, Holywood and Lisburn all recorded victories on Saturday. Donacloney increased the pressure on bottom side Lurgan with a crushing 140 run win in their local derby game. Woodvale stayed within touching distance of the league leaders with a 2 wicket victory over Laurelvale.

Holywood beat Downpatrick by 18 runs
Lisburn beat Derriaghy by 6 wickets
Woodvale beat Laurelvale by 2 wickets

Robinson Services Section 2
On Sunday Cliftonville Academy continued their good form in the league with a comfortable 7 wicket victory over Donaghadee. Level with them on points are one of last years promoted teams Monaghan who made it 4 wins out 5 with the defeat of Belfast SuperKings.

The previous day two games were played with comfortable wins for Drumaness over Victoria and Larne against BISC at Mallusk Playing Fields.
