Lagan Valley Steels Twenty 20 Cup News (22nd June)
On Friday night the final round of Group A games took place to decide the semi-finalists. A century from Shaheen Khan (103 not out) and 78 from Greg Thompson ensured victory for Waringstown over CSNI by 82 runs, and so joined their hosts in the semi-finals. Waringstown's better net run rate in the group ensures that they have home advantage in the semi-finals rather than CSNI. In the other Group A game Instonians had a narrow 7 run win against Armagh, despite a fine century from Armagh's Shadley van Schalkwyk who scored 111 not out of Armagh's 148 for 7. In group B, Alistair Shields scored 65 not out to ensure North Down comfortably defeated Carrickfergus by 8 wickets at Middle Road. North Down were already assured of a home tie in the semi-finals and the other semi-final spot will be decided on Wednesday night, when CIYMS play Muckamore. A win for either team will see them pass Carrick for second spot on points (CIYMS) or net run rate (Muckamore). Lagan Valley Steels Twenty20 Cup |
