CIYMS remain at the top of the Premier League - Waringstown reach fourth successive Irish Senior Cup Final
Waringstown defeated Strabane in the Clear Currency Irish Senior Cup to reach their fourth successive final, and CIYMS maintain top spot in the Robinson Services Premier League. Robinson Services Premier League CIYMS maintained their place at the top of the Robinson Services Premier League with a massive 174 run win against Muckamore. Jason van der Merwe (82 not out) and John Matchett with 58 were the main run scorers as CIYMS amassed 314 for 6. Muckamore were bowled out for 140, with two wickets each for Alan Coulter, Nigel Jones, Trevor Britton, and John Matchett. Waringstown were made to work hard for a four wicket victory at home to Instonians. Captain Andrew White scored 58, as the Belfast side set Waringstown a target of 209 to win. Rain resulted in this target being reduced to 173 in thirty five overs. Despite three wickets for James Magee, Lee Nelson was 28 not out at the end to see Waringstown across the winning line. In the abandoned game at Comber, the outstanding performances came from Jamie Holmes (102 not out) and Patrick Botha (93) in a Carrickfergus total of 340 for 7. On Sunday Carrickfergus defeated Instonians by 4 runs, with Alex Haggan scoring 47 and taking three wickets. Shane Getkate top scored for Instonians with 79, as they just fell short in the run chase. CSNI moved into third place with a 6 wicket victory over North Down. Marc Ellison (131) and an undefeated half century from Morgan Topping took CSNI to their victory target of 277 in 38 overs. Clear Currency Irish Senior Cup Waringstown, the holders, defeated Strabane by 167 runs to progress to their fourth Irish Senior Cup final appearance in a row. Waringstown posted 331 for 7, with Kyle McCallan scoring 75, and Shaheen Khan 68. Strabane were bowled out for 164, with McCallan claiming three wickets. The Clear Currency Irish Senior Cup final will be played at Stormont, on Saturday 1st September, with Merrion the opponents for Waringstown.
