Ulster Plate Final Preview
The final of the Ulster Plate will be contested by Muckamore II's (NCU) and Donemana II's (NWCU), at The Holm (Donemana CC), on Sunday 19th August (1pm start). This competition is played for by the top Second Elevens of the Northern Cricket Union and North West Cricket Union. Muckamore II's, winners in 2012, reached this years final by defeating Eglinton II's by 33 runs in the first round, followed by Fox Lodge II's by 131 runs, when Les Allen took five wickets. Due to adverse weather the semi-final against Bready II's was settled by a bowl out, which the NCU side won 2-0. Donemana II's defeated NCU opposition in the first two rounds, with a tight 5 run victory over Cliftonville Academy II's, and a 61 run success against Waringstown II's, with Junior McBrine producing an all round performance, 54 not out with the bat and four wickets. Fellow North West side Ardmore II's were beaten in the semi-final by 128 runs. All players, officials, and supporters will be made most welcome at The Holm, Donemana, one of the most iconic venues in Ulster cricket. |
