Whilst the Northern Cricket Union (NCU) Junior Regional Development Programme is taking a well earned break for Christmas, regional and club coaches attended a three hour workshop on Fundamental Movement.

This was facilitated by John Hunter from Belfast Community Sports Development Network, in association with the NCU Active Clubs Co-ordinator, Simon Johnston, at Ulster University Sports Centre on Sunday 9th December.

It was also great to welcome David Bradley and Mark Chambers from Ardmore Cricket Club in the North West Cricket Union to this workshop.

Twenty coaches actively participated in movement drills which can be used to support the 'cricket specific' activities for junior members at club and regional level.

Uel Graham, NCU Cricket Operations Manager, commented, 'Fundamental Movement skills and drills are a vital part of developing young cricketers. The NCU has now incorporated a bespoke Functional Movement Programme into the Junior Performance groups from January 2019, in conjunction with the expertise of William Moore, Performance Services Co-ordinator in Sports Services at Ulster University Jordanstown'.
