The season for Lurgan didn't start off the way they would have liked, due to players away at university they were unable to field a team in their season opener away to CSNI.
At The Green, North Down hosted Waringstown. Charlotte Lyons, who has taken up the captaincy this season, paved the way for Waringstown in a convincing 79 run win. Lyons scored 57 N.O, supported well by Cara Murray and Rachel Harrison.
On the bowling front Waringstown had a wealth of contributions namely Naomi Costly (2-12) and Charlotte Lyons (1-7). North Down's Rebecca Nield scored a patient 20, however didn't have anyone to support her.
Women's Division 1
This season has boasted a first for Holywood Cricket Club, as they have entered 2 teams in to the Women's Division 1. This came of the back of a big winter for the club investing a lot of time and resources in their club development specifically the female side of the game.
Ironically the first match of the season seen the two teams facing one another at Sea Park. Holywood Bandits came away with the win over the Holywood Aces. Maisie Fell was the pick of the bowlers for the Bandits coming away with 1-5. Libby Cheyne scored 19. For the Aces, Kathy Cunningham took 2-27 whilst Tori Rollo claimed 1-6.
Week 2
Premier league
Due to a number of girls participating in the opening weekend of the Toyota super 3's matches, the Waringstown, Lurgan match did not take place and will be rescheduled.
In their first game of the season the reigning league champions, Muckamore took on North Down at Moylena. It was an even match on paper given the number of players in each squad which were involved in the NCU Women's winter programme.
North Down opened the batting and Captain, Sandi Harrison set the tone scoring and unbeaten 53. Nicky Niblock took a satisfying 2-10, and was the pick of the Muckamore bowling attack.
Muckamore started their innings positively and Susi Keates played an impressive innings to finish 44 not out. She was supported by Amy Caulifield who finished 25 not out. New comer Kirsty McCrory was the star of the North down attack getting the only Muckamore wicket, on her debut. Muckamore beat North Down by 9 wickets.
