Cricket Award for Soccer Cup Winner

Robin Walsh Robinson Services

Former Irish Cup winning goalkeeper Chris Keenan has been picking up more awards - but in a very different sport.

This time he's in the spotlight for his local Larne cricket side,  his batting exploits helping to earn third place in Section 3 of the Northern Cricket Union's Robinson Services Senior League.

Keenan notched centuries against Donaghadee (101) and Dunmurry (135) to win two awards for senior league players who score a century, take at least six wickets or perform a hat trick.

Thirty two year old Keenan now plays his football with Larne Tech Old Boys and helped the amateur league side to an historic Irish Cup quarter final place last season.

Ten years ago Keenan went further with Crusaders when he kept a clean sheet to help the club win the cup for the first time in over 40 years in the North Belfast derby against Cliftonville. The following year the U23 international lifted  a Co Antrim Shield winner's medal when Crusaders defeated Linfield.

However, Keenan is no stranger to cricket awards as a free scoring left handed batsman. Last season he won his first award with 120 not out against Cooke on his way to his brilliant treble.
