NCU Women's squad to tour Jersey

NCU

As part of the growing development of the Women's game within the NCU, the senior women's squad will embark on a three day tour to Jersey this summer.

The tour has come about as part of the strong relationship between Jersey and NCU/Cricket Ireland and in particular the partnership between Simon Johnston, NCU Pathway Coach and Northern Knights Coach and Lee Meloy, Cricket Development Manager, Jersey Cricket Board.

These two have been fundamental in pulling this tour together. Jersey  U15 boys have toured to NCU in 2018 and Lee has also been working alongside Simon as Assistant Knights Coach as part of his own CPD.

The NCU women had an 8 game programme in 2019 which included a four day tour to Cornwall and three match days against their North West counterparts, and work is ongoing for this summer programme.

Allan Rutherford, NCU Director of Representative Cricket said "The NCU are working to put in place a full programme of matches for our Senior Women's team. The girls have been working very hard over the winter to further develop their skills.

As with the men / boys programme, we felt that a tour will further benefit the players and team development and we are very grateful to the Jersey Cricket Board for the invitation to tour."

The NCU are also delighted to announce that James Cameron Dow has agreed to take over as Lead coach of the Senior Women's Team with David Miller acting as his assistant coach.
