Revamped NCU Women’s Cricket starts this weekend
The Northern Cricket Union has this week revealed a revamp of its Women’s Domestic Competitions for what remains of the 2020 season. The shortened season get under way this week with the introduction of a new league format, following consultation with all of the NCU Women’s teams. That new competition encompasses all Premier and Division 1 Clubs in one competition, with the teams divided into two groups of four. Teams will play each other once in a 20 overs format, with a series of final cross-over games to complete the competition and crown the winners of the revised 2020 season league competition.
Round 1 fixtures begin this week and are as follows: Group A Round 1 Group B Round 1 The 2020 season plans also include the Women's cricket blue riband competition, the Gallagher Women's Challenge Cup which will be the only NCU competition this season to survive in its original 20 over format. First Round Fixtures of the Gallagher Women's Challenge Cup will take place on Sunday 2nd August The draw is: Dates for subsequent rounds have been set as follows: Semi-final: Sunday 16th August The NCU appreciates the support of Gallagher Insurance who continue their backing of local cricket in the region this season and will also continue to present Player of the match awards for each Gallagher Challenge cup match. |
