Downpatrick recently contacted the Union to advise that they were faced with a number of senior players leaving the club. The outcome of this would be that they would be unable to field a competitive side in Senior League 1 and asked if it would be possible for them to play in a lower league.

Following several rounds of discussions with Downpatrick the Domestic Cricket Directorate has agreed to Downpatrick playing in Senior League 2 in the 2021 season.

Bangor who were relegated from Senior League 1 in 2019 after finishing in 9th position will retain their place in that league.

Downpatrick have also advised that they will be unable to field a 2nd XI in 2021.

The NCU Development team will work with the club as they attempt to rebuild.
