Fixtures 2021

The Union is still waiting on confirmation of dates of international, inter-provincial and Irish domestic competitions from Cricket Ireland.

As soon as these have been received we will be in a position to finalise Premier League and Senior League fixtures and release them to clubs.

It is likely that Junior League fixture meetings will be held using Zoom and we will advise further on this.

Draws for the Challenge and Junior Cups involving the sponsors and club representatives will be held in January using Zoom.

Draws for the other cups will be made by the Union President and staff.

Twenty20 Competitions (Sponsored by Lagan Valley Steel)

The Domestic Cricket Directorate has decided that the format for the competitions in 2021 will be:

  • Cup - Premier League clubs will play each other once on a Thursday or Friday evening.
The home club will have choice of evening.
The top four clubs will play semi-finals.

  • Trophy and Shield - Played as knock-out competitions.

Coloured Clothing

Some weeks ago the Union consulted clubs on the introduction of coloured clothing.
No overall consensus on the way forward emerged.

Based on what clubs have told us the Domestic Cricket Directorate have decided that the following will apply:
  • 2021 - Premier League and Challenge Cup will be played in coloured clothing
  • 2022 - Senior Leagues 1 and 2, Junior League 1 and the Junior Cup will be played in coloured clothing.

Further discussion will be held with clubs on the use of coloured clothing in junior and youth leagues.

Cup Final Venues 2021

Challenge Cup - North Down
Junior Cup - Lisburn
Intermediate Cup - Bangor
Minor (Lindsay) Cup - Woodvale
Minor Qualifying Cup - Dundrum
T20 Finals Day - Waringstown

Downpatrick CC

At Downpatrick's request the Domestic Cricket Directorate have approved that they will play in Senior League 2 in 2021.
This means that Bangor's relegation from Senior League 1 in 2019 will not take place.

Roger Bell

We know that all clubs will congratulate Roger on his election as President.
Roger will now stand down as chair of the Competitions Committee and be replaced by Wylie McKinty.
Roger will also be replaced on the Registrations Committee by Jack Quinn.
Applications for registration of players not eligible to play for Ireland should be sent to me in the first instance.
We wish Wylie and Jack well in their new roles.

The President, Chairman, Board and staff of the Union wish all of our clubs and representatives a safe and merry Christmas and hope that we can enjoy our cricket again in 2021.

General Secretary
