Neil Rock returns to the MTB Northern Knights for 2021 Inter-Provincial Series
MTB Northern Knights have announced that that wicketkeeper Neil Rock has been added to the squad for the 2021 Inter-Provincial Series. Rock had initially signed for Munster Reds ahead of the 2021 season but will return to MTB Northern Knights following the retirement of Gary Wilson last month. The 20-year-old has played 27 matches for MTB Northern Knights across all three formats since making his debut in 2018 and has scored 272 runs in this time. He has also been involved in 28 dismissals to-date. Speaking of his return, Rock said: "I'm delighted to be back with the Knights. They're a great bunch of a lads and I've really enjoyed my time in Belfast since joining in 2018. There's more Inter-Pro fixtures than previous years which makes for an exciting summer. Hopefully we can put a good run of performances together over the season and win some silverware. With Gary retiring, an opportunity opened up for me to return to the Knights. They're big boots to fill but a challenge I'm looking forward to. I learned a lot from him in the last two seasons." MTB Northern Knights head coach Simon Johnston added: "To have Neil back in our squad is excellent news. He has been a great player for us over the last few years and we can't wait to have him back again for the 2021 Inter-Provincial Series. It was always in our long-term plans for him to take over from Gary when he retired so to have him back and behind the stumps is brilliant." |
