LVS T20 Cup Round 3 Match Round-up
An unbeaten half-century from Alistair Shields helped North Down register their second victory of the weekend as they defeated Waringstown by 33 runs at The Green. Shields struck 86 not out off 58 balls in an innings that included 13 fours and a six. He had support from Peter Eakin (44) and Paul Stirling (37) as the Comber men posted 175-3 in their 20 overs. Lee Nelson took two wickets for Waringstown, finishing with figures of 2-26. In reply, Waringstown scored 142-7. James McCollum top scored for the visitors with 44; Graham Hume added 32. Craig Young, Carl Robinson and Eakin all took two wickets each for the hosts. Elsewhere, CSNI defeated Lisburn in a rain-affected match at Stormont – Luke Georgeson hit 60 off 30 balls to help his side reach 124-3 in 10 overs. Lisburn responded with 89-5. Defending champions CIYMS picked up their first win of the season after beating Instonians by 102 runs at Belmont. John Matchett scored an unbeaten 82 and was supported by Mark Adair (66) and Jason van der Merwe (40 not out). Instonians were all out for 110, chasing 213; Trevor Britton, James-Cameron-Dow and David Robinson all took two wickets each. At Ballygomartin Road, Carrickfergus defeated Woodvale by 68 runs. Jacques Snyman scored 63 off 21 balls as the visitors scored 147-6 in 12 overs. Woodvale could only muster 79-8 in reply. There were a couple of wickets for both Neil Gill and Alex Haggan.
