MTB Northern Knights defeated by North West Warriors in Inter-Provincial Cup
MTB Northern Knights fell to a 62-run defeat in their Inter-Provincial Cup match against North West Warriors at Stormont on Tuesday. William Porterfield scored 73 off 97 balls and William McClintock scored an unbeaten 72 off 46 balls as North West Warriors posted 298-7 in their 50 overs. Shane Getkate scored 47 off 44 deliveries in a knock that contained five fours and two sixes. There were two wickets for both Mark Adair and Ben White; Luke Georgeson, Ruhan Pretorius and Paul Stirling all took a wicket each. In the chase, MTB Northern Knights lost both James McCollum (1) and Stirling (16) fell within the first overs.It was Jeremy Lawlor who stood up and played the anchor role. The 25-year-old scored 95 off 116 balls, reaching his highest List-A score – which surpassed his previous best of 80 not out on Sunday. Lawlor had support from a number of players who all made starts, but it wasn't to be on this occasion. Young was the stand out Warriors bowler, claiming figures of 4-55. There were two wickets for Andy McBrine and a sole scalp for Stuart Thompson and Conor Olphert. MTB Northern Knights are back in action on Friday when they take on North West Warriors at Bready.
