LVS T20 Cup Semi Final Match Round-up

Carrickfergus and CSNI will contest the 2021 Lagan Valley Steels T20 Cup final on Sunday after wins over Lisburn and CIYMS respectively.

At Stormont, a century from CSNI captain Gary Wilson saw his side defeat their visitors by five wickets. 

Chasing 170 for victory, Wilson strode to the middle with the score reading 20-2 in the fifth over. He fired 108 off 51 deliveries in an innings that included nine fours and seven sixes. There were contributions from Luke Georgeson and Paddy Beverland (both 19) and Chris McMorran (11) as CSNI wrapped up the victory with an over to spare.

In the first innings, Chris Dougherty struck 60 and Nigel Jones smashed 40 off 18 balls as CIYMS posted 169-5 in their 20 overs. Matthew Foster picked up three wickets and there was a scalp each for Ben Adair and Georgeson. 

Meanwhile, a fine half-century by Jeremy Lawlor helped Carrickfergus defeat Lisburn by eight runs (DLS) at Middle Road. Lawlor bludgeoned 78 off 45 balls in a knock that contained seven fours and four sixes. Neil Rock (25), Michael Gilmour (24) and CJ van der Walt (20 not out) also played their part as Carrickfergus posted 173-4 in 20 overs.

In reply, Lisburn lost five wickets for 16 runs in nine balls – slumping from 97-3 to 113-7, falling eight runs shy of the DLS par score (126 off 14 overs). Adam Berry top-scored for the visitors with 39; Faiz Fazal hit 33. Jacques Snyman was the pick of the Carrickfergus bowlers – taking 4-25 in four overs. There was a couple for Jeremy Lawlor and a scalp for Neil Gill.

The LVS T20 Cup final will take place at The Lawn, Waringstown tomorrow starting at 2PM.
