Cara Murray and Amy Hunter included in the Senior Ireland Women's Side
The Northern Cricket Union would like to congratulate Cara Murray and Amy Hunter on their inclusion in the senior Ireland Women's side for their ICC T20 World Cup European Qualifier in Spain, which gets underway this week. Waringstown's Murray was included in the initial squad named by Cricket Ireland earlier this month for the trip to La Manga while 15-year-old Hunter, from Instonians, was called up today (Monday) as a replacement for Shauna Kavanagh. 20-year-old spinner Murray has played in three ODI's and six Twenty20 internationals since making her debut in June 2018, picking up seven wickets with best figures of 3-18. Hunter was awarded an Ireland contract last year and made her senior debut against Scotland at Stormont earlier this summer. The qualifier starts on Thursday with Ireland taking on Germany at 9:30am and they are in action again later in the day against Turkey (2:30pm). Scotland, France and Netherlands will also provide further opposition with the top team progressing to the 2022 ICC Women's World Cup Qualifier tournament. All matches will be livestreamed and live scored via the ICC website. We wish Cara, Amy and the rest of the squad the very best of luck for the tournament! |
