Lisburn captain Adam Berry has admitted that 2021 will present an opportunity for their new faces to build on what happened last summer.

The Wallace Park outfit showed great potential by reaching the semi-finals of the Lagan Valley Steels T20 Cup. However, in the Robinson Services Cup, the side only won once – a six-wicket win over Carrickfergus.

Speaking ahead of the new season, Berry said: "I think last season was a great opportunity for the new faces in the squad to play their first games for the club. We showed glimpses of the potential we have in a number of games and now it's about taking those positives into this season while working on other aspects of our game."

Lisburn will be hoping that Ireland bowler Boyd Rankin can make an impression on the field having already worked hard off it by coaching youth players.

"Boyd's record speaks for itself in county cricket and for Ireland and he will add further quality to our seam bowling," said Berry. "The club are delighted to have Boyd involved and he's already been great off the field coaching the youth academy."

Also looking to make an impression on the field will be overseas player, Faiz Fazal. Fazal was a key player at the club in 2019, scoring 608 runs in 12 matches at an average of 55.27.

On Fazal, Berry said: "Faiz is a class act on and off the field. His performances in 2019 were excellent and I've no doubt he will impress everyone again in 2021. He's a model professional and he reaps the rewards of the hard work he puts in."

Lisburn begin their season with a trip to Waringstown in the Lagan Valley Steels T20 Cup.

Looking ahead to the opening game, Berry said: "Waringstown at The Lawn will always be a tough game but one you look forward to. Waringstown's success speaks for itself. You want to be challenging and really competing against those top clubs. We know they've a really strong line-up and it's a challenge everyone is relishing."
