The final of this season's Intermediate cup is due to be played at The Castle Grounds 690 Antrim Road Belfast on Sunday 21st August between Cliftonville Academy II and Derriaghy II starting at 12 noon. Derriaghy have had a bit of an up and down season in the league, with some good performances and some very disappointing defeats but it has been the cup run that has brought the best out of their team this season. Comfortable wins against BISC 2s and Templepatrick 2s brought them to a semi final against a very strong Woodvale 2s team at Ballygomartin. In what was without a doubt their best performance of the year, the bowlers restricted them to 189 and despite a wobble along the way a last wicket stand between Scott Hughes and Ivan Sinovich saw their side over the line for a 1 wicket win with 1 ball to spare. Cliftonville Academy's path to the final included wins over Cooke Collegians and Woodvale 3s before posting a season high of 270 for 7 against Armagh 2s in the semi final. A match where the veteran Jonny Terrett hit a superb 132 not out. Last weekend they beat nearest challengers for promotion Woodvale 2s so enter the final in fine form. Derriaghy captain Jonny Bell is looking forward to the tough challenge of Cliftonville Academy in the final. The league games between the 2 Junior League 2 teams have been shared with one win each so the final is set to be an intriguing encounter.
