Gallagher Women's Challenge Cup Quarter-Finals Roundup
Following the conclusion of the Gallagher Women's Challenge Cup quarter-finals on Tuesday evening, the semi-final draw has been confirmed. After knocking out defending champions Waringstown, Lurgan will host North Down while CSNI have also been drawn at home against Muckamore. Hannah Grieve (109*) scored a superb century at The Lawn to inspire Lurgan to an unassailable target of 170-4 as the 2017 and 2018 champions recorded an impressive 29-run victory. North Down comfortably navigated their way past Gallagher Challenge Plate runners-up Holywood in their quarter-final clash with Amy Benson (48) and Player of the Match Staci Maxwell (41) leading the way with the bat to set up a 93-run triumph. The Comber side will be looking to reach a second Challenge Cup final after reaching the 2017 decider – where Lurgan picked up the title with a narrow five run win. CSNI beat Muckamore's 2nd XI at Stormont on Tuesday night and have now been drawn against their first team in a replay of the 2019 final. The Stormont outfit edged that one by the smallest of margins, lifting their first Challenge Cup crown after winning by 2 runs. Muckamore II's batted first and finished on 83-4 but CSNI were able to chase it down to win by seven wickets. Muckamore will be looking to go one better than they managed two seasons ago and get their name on the trophy this time around. NCU Women's captain Amy Caulfield (76*) was in superb form at Middle Road on Monday evening as her side beat Carrickfergus after posting a mammoth 193-1. Caulfield shared a match-winning partnership with Suzi Keates (61) before Nikki Niblock (3-0) picked up remarkable figures to limit Carrick to 77-5.
